European programmes
This page offers an overview on European programmes on Information and Communication Technologies ICT in education. These programmes aim to promote not only ICT in the classroom, but also research and development projects on all subjects of ICT in education.
EU - Europe 2020
The Lisbon strategy of the European Union has been replaced in 2010 by the Strategy of Europe 2010, the innovation strategy of the next ten years. Concretely, the Union has set five ambitious objectives - on employment, innovation, education, social inclusion and climate/energy - to be reached by 2020.
EU - Integrated Lifelong Learning Programme
Under the banner of life-long learning, the European Commission has launched an educational programme for the period 2007-2013, bringing together all the prior educational programmes in one integrated whole: the Integrated Lifelong Learning Programme.
EU - COMENIUS
Part of the EU’s Lifelong Learning Programme, the Comenius actions aim to help young people and educational staff better understand the range of European cultures, languages and values. It focuses on all levels of school education, from pre-school and primary to secondary schools.
EU - Youth in Action
The "Youth in Action" programme for the period 2007 to 2013 aims to develop and support cooperation in the field of youth in the EU Member States and in third countries. It is designed to encourage young people from 13 to 30 to participate in public life and to promote their sense of initiative, entrepreneurial spirit and creativity.
EU - 7th Framework Programme
The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) bundles all research-related EU initiatives together under a common roof playing a crucial role in reaching the goals of growth, competitiveness and employment.
EU - Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme
The Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) aims to encourage the competitiveness of European enterprises. It will encourage a better take-up and use of ICT and help to develop the information society.
EU - Safer Internet
The Safer Internet Programme aims at empowering and protecting children and young people online by awareness raising initiatives and by fighting illegal and harmful online content and conduct.
COE - Cooperation Programme on History Teaching
As part of the Programme on cultural co-operation, History teaching in perspective gives an overview of the changes that affected Europe and the Council of Europe since 1949 and how the instances of the Council of Europe responded to the changes.
COE - Higher Education and Research
The work of the Council of Europe in the field of higher education and research focuses on issues related to the recognition of qualifications and public responsibility for higher education and research. It does not recognize any higher education institution, programme or provision.
COE - Pestalozzi Programme
The PESTALOZZI programme is conceived as a means of recognising the importance of education and teacher education in particular. It organises European seminars, workshops and courses in continuing education for teachers.
COE - Language Policy Division
The Language Policy Division (Strasbourg) implements intergovernmental medium-term programmes with a strong emphasis on activities and tools to support policy development.
